Look Out, Officer! AKA The Stephen Chow Comedy That No One Has Heard Of.

Look Out, Officer! (1990) is an incredibly insane Shaw Bros comedy that features a charming cast that includes a pre STEPHEN CHOW Stephen Chow.  The film is part slapstick part ghost tale and a whole lot of gonzo shenanigans.  Director Lau Sze-Yu has a blast mixing aspects from various genres and comes up with something that resembles nothing in the Shaw Bros catalogue.

The comedy trio of Stephen Chow, Uncle Bill (Tung Bui) and the cantankerous Stanley Fung have never been better; the chemistry between the three keeps the film afloat, even when the flamboyant direction isn’t working. It’s over the top stuff that borders on absurdity but the mighty trio with their commitment to the material really make the film a pleasurable watch.

In short, Look Out, Officer! is an outrageously fun film that’ll win you over with its energy and zaniness.

Agreed. I found two of these dvd’s in a bargain bin in C-town a few years ago. $2 a piece. Score!

  2. Diana says:

Classic Chow. I rented this from Netflix under the bizarre title of “Shaolin Idiot.”
